I stand a better chance of being the first Igbo president - Okorocha

- Governor Rochas Okorocha says he won’t be relying on the support of the people from the southeast to actualise his presidential ambition

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has said he stands a better chance of being the first president of Nigeria from the southeast region.

Okorocha told journalist during a breakfast meeting at the government house that he won’t be relying on the support of the people from the southeast to actualise his ambition.

He accused politicians from the southeast of what he called the pull-him-down attitude. He said the biggest opposition to his presidential ambition will come from the southeast zone.

“I stand a better chance of making the Presidency in 2023 but my greatest challenge will come from the Igbo. It is our character. It will be a foolish thing to imagine that the Igbo will support me,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Kastina north senatorial by-election holding on Saturday, August 11, people turned out en-masse in Daura, President Buhari’s hometown, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Babba Kaita.

Legit.ng gathered that the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was there along with the Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari and his counterpart from Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, for the APC grand finale rally for the party’s Katsina north’s senatorial candidate, Ahmed Babba Kaita.

Yemi Osinbajo also met the emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Farouk Umar Farouk, at his palace in Katsina state during his visit to Katsina state.
