Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna central, has said no state government bank accounts should be frozen, adding that the fight against corruption should only focus on corrupt culprits.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, August 8, allegedly froze the bank accounts of the Akwa Ibom state government.
The Kaduna state lawmaker reacting, in a tweet said: "No state Government account should be frozen.The focus should Only be corrupt culprits, if at all there’s any.Collective punishment stalls Government and Governance.There’s no potent weapon to fight corruption than the rule of law"
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) froze the bank accounts of the Akwa Ibom state government.
A top official of the government confirmed the development on Wednesday, August 8. The source said Governor Udom Emmanuel and top officials of the government were shocked by the report.
The report of the freezing of Akwa Ibom government banks accounts comes 24 hours after the anti-graft commission blocked those of Benue government.
