Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Paris Saint Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa this summer.

The Red Devils are hoping they can complete the deal before this summer transfer window closes later today as the club's boss Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen his defence.

He joined the Parisians from Monaco in 2015 but struggled for playing time at the Parc Des Pricess last term - featuring just 20 times in the French League.

According French news outlet, L'Equipe, the Old Trafford's chiefs are doing all they can to land the struggling PSG star.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old is expected to add quality to United's back line - and possibly provide healthy competition for Luke Shaw in the team.

Kurzawa joined the Ligue 1 champions in a five year deal for €23 million from Monaco but failed to shine under former manager Unai Emery.

With new boss Thomas Tuchel in charge, this season could be different for the Frenchman. earlier reported that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is frustrated with the club's no show in this summer transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician has been desperate to bring in a top class defender to beef-up his squad ahead of the new season.

However, Mourinho has been left frustrated that the club has not been able to close the deal for any player - meaning he will have to stick with the majority of the squad he had last season.
