A young Johannesburg-based pilot, Noni Radebe, is an inspiring trailblazer for South African women in aviation.
She is a first officer with the British Airways, Legit.ng gathered. She is among the few women pilots in South Africa.
She is also said to be among the even fewer South African women pilots to fly jumbo jets, specifically the Boeing 777.
In an interview, Noni said she developed an interest in aviation at a young age. Her interest grew in high school after listening to a pilot being interviewed on radio.
Although she had applied to study in the finance/accounting field, after matriculation that changed and she pursued her dream of being a pilot.
Before long, the young pilot achieved her dream. In 2017, she began working for Comair, which operates British Airways and Kulula.com.
Noni had words of wisdom for aspiring pilots:
"There is no dream that is beyond your reach. Learning to be a professional pilot takes a lot of time and dedication. Give it your best shot and remember to enjoy it always."
