- Premier League champions sign Daniel Arzani from Melbourne City on transfer deadline day
- He will be sent to Celtic FC on a season long loan deal to gain more experience
- The attacking midfielder is the youngest player to be named in the Australian World Cup squad
Manchester City have completed the signing of Australia international midfielder Daniel Arzani from Melbourne City on the summer transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old joined the Citizens for an undisclosed fee and will be sent out on loan to continue his development according to information from the club.
His performance for the Socceroos at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia got him the deal with the current Premier League champions.
Arzani flew into the United Kingdom on Wednesday to finalise his deal with his new club and will be shipped out before the close of this transfer window.
Manchester City's global football managing director Brian Marwood believes the switch is an important one for the City Football Group since City are the parents club to Melbourne City
He said: "In a short period of time, Daniel has developed into one of Australia’s brightest young stars and has demonstrated the drive and raw talent required for success at the highest level.
"This pathway was first forged by Aaron Mooy just two years ago, and we are all delighted to see another Australian-grown talent make this move.
"The combination of City Football Group’s global football structure and the world-leading City Football Academy facilities create an environment in which this pathway can become well-trodden."
Arzani became the youngest ever player to be named in a World Cup squad for the Australia national team when he traveled to Russia this summer.
He was also the youngest player in the tournament, and came on as a substitute in the latter stages of the Socceroos group stage game against France.

According to a UK Daily Star report citing sources at The Times, scouts from the Premier League champions have kept vigil on the Germany international, as Guardiola looks to add quality in the midfield.
Interestingly, the 22-year-old has been with the Bundesliga outfit since 2015 and is currently regarded as one of Germany’s most talented players.
