- Los Blancos will complete the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois
- He will undergo medicals at the club on Thursday, August 9, before being presented to the fans
- Meanwhile, Real midfielder Kovacic, will join the Blues on loan until the end of the season
Spanish League giants Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of want-away Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois on a six year deal valued at £35 million pounds.
The deal will be finalised after the Belgian must have passed medicals at the Santiago Bernabeu before being presented to the fans on the transfer deadline day.
Russia 2018 bronze winning goalkeeper refused to rejoin Chelsea for their pre-season training as he desperately wanted to leave the club before the end of this summer transfer window.
They were forced to open a disciplinary action against him and were set to fine him two-weeks wages worth around £200,000 after securing a world record fee for Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Maurizio Sarri's side will cough out about £72 million for the Spanish goalkeeper - to beat the initial recrod set bt Liverpool for Brazil star Alisson Becker earlier this summer.
Chelsea deposited the fee in full to lawyers in Spain on Wednesday morning, paving the way for Kepa's arrival.
Courtois joined the Blues from Genk in 2011 but was immediately sent on loan to Atletico Madrid to gain experience and exposure.
He returned to the Stamford Bridge in 2014 and has since then become the club's number one goalkeeper - winning two Premier League titles in the process.
According to Chelsea official website, Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic will join the London club as part of the deal to sell Courtois to the current Champions League holders.
"Chelsea and Real Madrid have tonight agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Thibaut Courtois subject to the agreement of personal terms and passing a medical.
"Subject to the completion of the deal Mateo Kovacic will join the Blues on a season-long loan."
On the other hand Real confirmed that the Belgian shot stopper will be presented to the fans for the first time on Thursday in the club's jersey.
"Real Madrid C.F. and Chelsea F.C. have agreed the transfer of Thibaut Courtois, who has signed for the club for the next six seasons.
"After the medical that will take place tomorrow, Thursday 9 August, the player will be presented at 1pm in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
"Subsequently, Courtois will go out on the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu for the first time wearing the Real Madrid C.F. jersey and will speak to the media in the press room."
Legit.ng previously reported that Thibaut Courtois told the Blues' chiefs that he will not sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge and will leave on a free transfer next summer.
The Blues have been trying to keep their number one goalie this summer, and with this latest development, they will have to sell him in the next nine days or lose him for free when his contract ends next season.
Chelsea want Courtois to sign a new long-term contract but the keeper says his mind is made up and he wants to move to Madrid to be with his children according to the report by UK Sun.
