The Cable is reporting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen the bank accounts of the Akwa Ibom state government.
According to the report, a top official of the government confirmed the development on Wednesday, August 8.
The source said Governor Udom Emmanuel and top officials of the government were shocked by the report.
The report of the freezing of Akwa Ibom government banks accounts comes 24 hours after the anti-graft commission blocked those of Benue government.
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the anti-graft agency, did not respond to inquiries at the time of this report.

Meanwhile, the chief press secretary to the Benue state governor, Mr Terver Akase, says the action of the EFCC is a political witch-hunt against his principal after he (Governor Ortom) defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, “the action of EFCC is already having negative impact on the running of government in Benue state. It is a move that will affect salaries, pensions and other sundry payments.”
