Madumere approaches court to set aside his impeachment

- Former Imo state deputy governor has reportedly approached the state high court to set aside the report they used in impeaching him

- He may also file contempt charges against the speaker of Imo state House of Assembly

- The impeached deputy governor had also accused the state governor Rochas Okorocha of being the mastermind of his illegal impeachment

Prince Eze Madumere, former Imo state deputy governor has reportedly approached the state high court to set aside the report on which the state House of Assembly drew it’s strength to purportedly impeach him.

The former deputy governor, according to Vanguard, may also file contempt charges against Acho Ihim, Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly and members of the seven-man panel appointed by the state chief judge, to probe his alleged sins.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Eze Madumere was on Monday, July 30, impeached from his position as Imo deputy governor by the state’s House of Assembly. 19 out of the 27 members took the decision to send him packing.

The speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, announced that the impeachment was as a result of the outcome of a report by a seven-man panel constituted by the chief judge of the state to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against Madumere.

The impeached deputy governor also accused the state governor Rochas Okorocha, of being the mastermind of his “illegal” impeachment by the state House of Assembly on Monday, July 30.

Legit.ng had also reported that a high court in Owerri, the Imo state capital stopped the swearing-in of Calistus Ekenze as the new deputy governor of the state.

The court ruling came in on Tuesday morning, July 31, just as Ekenze was about to be sworn in.
