PDP behind DSS siege on National Assembly - Babafemi Ojudu insists

The special adviser to the president on political matters, Babafemi Ojudu, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being behind the Tuesday, August 7, siege on the National Assembly by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ojudu made the claim on Wednesday, August 8, when speaking on a Channels TV programme Sunrise Daily.

The presidential aide insisted that there was a collusion between the opposition party and security agencies to elicit emotions of Nigerians for Senate president, Bukola Saraki.

He said the sack of the SSS director general, Lawal Daura, by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had vindicated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the presidency from involvement in the siege.

He also said it would be wrong for a minority group to preside over the leadership of the Senate.

But the PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, faulted the claims of the presidential aide that the opposition was behind the blockade on the National Assembly.

He accused the presidential aide of churning out lie over the issue.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has condemned the Tuesday, August 7, siege to the National Assembly by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS).

Chairman of the forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, in a statement on Wednesday, August 8, called for the punishment of all those involved in the siege.

Speaking through the head of media of the NGF, Abdulrazaque-Bello Barkindo, the forum described the conduct of the security operatives as an aberration, Premium Times reports.
