Breaking: APC secretariat property set ablaze in Delta

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state took another dimension on Tuesday, August 7, as properties at the Isoko South local government secretariat of the party were reportedly set ablaze by aggrieved party members.

Vanguard reported that though the circumstances surrounding the incident were stilly hazy, sources said it was not unconnected with the harmonization of ward executives of the party in the council area.

According to the newspaper, a dependable source in the area who pleaded anonymity told said: “Yesterday (Monday, August 6) Chairmen of the party in Oleh wards 1 and 2 were sworn -in.

“Today some aggrieved members of the wards mobilized and broke into the secretariat which is a rented apartment, removed all the chairs, tables and some other office properties, brought them outside and set them ablaze.

“The party is trying to harmonize the executives so that there will be peace in the party, but these people were not happy with the way the process was being carried out because they feel it is non-inclusive”.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, on Monday, August 6, declared that the APC will not return to power in the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.

Lamido said Nigerians who voted the party into power in 2015 are currently battling with hunger and abject poverty, saying the people are angry with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The former governor alleged that Buhari is incompetent to lead the country for a period of another four years.
