- United must pay a massive £12m to sack Jose Mourinho this season reports claim
- The Portuguese is unhappy over lack of support from the club’s eggheads to buy quality players
- Mourinho is entitled to his full £12m-a-season salary if sacked before the season ends
Premier League giants Manchester United would have to splash out about £12million to payoff Jose Mourinho if they sack the Portuguese in the course of the new season.
According to a UK Sun report, the Red United manager has already revealed his sadness over a poor pre-season tour of the US.
The former Chelsea boss has also complained that he was not getting the required support from the club’s eggheads in his bid to bring in top quality in the ongoing transfer market.
The Portuguese has 24 months left on his present deal, and would likely be entitled to his full £12m-a-season wages if he was sacked.
However, the report further suggests that Mourinho will only get 12-months of his massive salary, after a clause was inserted in his deal with the Old Trafford outfit.
“It became quite a protracted affair when it came to discussing a final settlement with Louis van Gaal.
“The club wanted to avoid a repeat of that again in the future - especially as Jose earns far in excess of what he did.
“Van Gaal held out for every penny but even United have to draw the financial line somewhere with Jose,” a United source was quoted as saying.
Interestingly, eggheads of the Premier League side could equally extend his present contract by an additional year, if the club’s fortunes turn out positively.
However, it is unlikely that the former Los Blancos boss will stay at Old Trafford beyond this season, with huge supporters pressure already heating up.
Currently, Mourinho alongside City rival Pep Guardiola are reportedly the English topflight top earning managers.
And the report suggests the Portuguese has already pocketed about £35m in pay-offs from previous jobs.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been tipped as the first Premier League boss to be sacked in the 2018-19 league season.
The Portuguese tactician has not been able to attract quality signing in the summer transfer window that will close on Thursday, August 9.
