Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned his former club not to sell Paul Pogba to Barcelona.

Super agent Mino Raiola is trying to work out a sensational move for the France World Cup winner.

And Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand has urged club to keep France international at Old Trafford for the new season.

Ferdinand also wants them to move for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, who had a splendid World Cup with Belgium.

According to Sportsmail, Raiola is engineering a sensational deal for the 26-year-old to leave Old Trafford in the coming days.

Sources close to the Frenchman indicate he would be open to a move, but Rio Ferdinand has urged executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to keep him.

Jose Mourinho has already predicted a 'difficult season' if United do not sign more players and losing a word-class midfielder will on add to that.

Ferdinand who made over 450 appearance for United wants the former Juventus star to stay and Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld to come in.

Responding to a Sportsmail tweet, Ferdinand said: "Don't you dare allow this ED... #MUFC is Pogba's home!! Silence these rumours ASAP & get @AlderweireldTob through the door."

In the build up to the Premier League opener against Leicester, Mourinho told MUTV: "My CEO knows what I want and I still have a few days to wait and see what happens.

"The other clubs who compete with us are really strong and already have fantastic teams. Or they are investing massively like Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody."

Meanwhile, had earlier reported Paul Pogba has reportedly agreed five-year deal worth £100m with reigning Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Barcelona had offered Manchester United Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes plus cash to sign Pogba which the Red Devils rejected.
