Tithe-paying is fraud, stop paying it - Ghanaian pastor Dan Owusu-Asiamah claims using Bible reference

- The act of paying tithe in cash has been condemned by a Ghanaian pastor, knowns as Dan Owusu-Asiamah

- Owusu-Asiamah said that the actual commandment in the Bible is that tithe should be paid in farm produce and not in cash

- He argued that pastors use tithe to defraud their church members and enrich themselves, adding that such clerics are not different from corrupt politicians

Dan Owusu-Asiamah, a Ghanaian pastor, has asked Christians to stop paying tithe, arguing that some top clerics use it to defraud members of their congregations.

Owusu-Asiamah, who said this this on Monday, August 6, alleged that some pastors actually use the tithe to live luxuriously, Punch reports.

He explained that the book of Deuteronomy in the Bible abominates pastors from extorting money from church members, adding that pastors who collect 10 percent of their members’ incomes are the same with “corrupt” politicians.

Owusu-Asiamah said: “Tithe-paying is fraud. Under no circumstance was anyone asked to pay tithe in the Bible. Tithing has to do with foodstuffs. Everything they are doing now is wrong.

"We speak about corruption and talk about politicians. Corruption begins in the church. The church is actively doing these things. In Deuteronomy 14:25, it tells you, a tithe isn’t about money.”

“There is a difference between offertory and tithing, Malachi chapter 3: 8-10 says tithing has nothing to do with money but offering does. I challenge every clergyman to open a passage that says we should pay tithe on a monthly basis.

"No apostle asked a Christian to give one-tenth. Now it’s more like a law that some churches even collect the tithe before they bury the dead. How do you mark those who pay tithe in church?”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that in a recent video which had gone viral on social media, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) disclosed that anyone who did not pay his or her tithe would not make heaven.

Following this video, Daddy Freeze shared it on his Instagram handle and once again stated his disappointment in the man of God. He also seized the opportunity to ask if the man of God was in his right senses.
