- Croatia midfielder Luka Modric might join Inter Milan this summer
- He has been superb for Los Blancos since he joined them in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur
- Real Madrid are lining up Juventus star Pjanic as a replacement for the star player if he leaves
Spanish League giants Real Madrid have reportedly made Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic their priority target should they lose Luka Modric this summer.
The Croatian superstar has been linked with a move to join Italian League giants Inter Milan before the start of a new season.
He was impressive for his national team at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia as they lost 4-2 to France in the final game on July 15.
His current deal with the most successful club in the history of Champions League expires in the summer of 2020 having joined the Galacticos in 2012 in a deal worth €30 million from Tottenham Hotspur.
Dailymail citing Italian news outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Inter are willing to pay up to £10 million in salary but new manager Julen Lopetegui is not open to selling the midfield maestro.
However, the the European champions are already planning for a life after Modric, meanwhile the Italian League side are not planning to let Pjanic go for any less than £90 million.
"The president has already given an answer, I don't have much else to add," Lopetegui said following Madrid's victory over Juve on Saturday.
"Modric is an extraordinary player, we await him with open arms. I talked to him after his excellent World Cup and we'll see if he can play on August 15 (against Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup), our first big objective of the season.
"I told him he was a player I'm passionate about, I love him and he knows it. He'll be happy with the proposal he receives here.
"He'll be happy to play football, like he already was, at Real Madrid. Luka is a Madrid player and will continue to be, I have no doubt. We've enjoyed having him and we'll continue to do so."
The Italian champions would then attempt to sign Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to fill the gap left by Pjanic.
Madrid president Florentino Perez has made it clear the club have no plans to lose Modric, however, saying only an outlandish bid of £660 million would be enough.
Legit.ng previously reported that Real Madrid slammed a €750 million (£670m) price tag on their star midfielder Luka Modric to fend off interest from Inter Milan.
The 32-year-old was named the best player at the World Cup after leading Croatia to the finals as they eventually lost 4-2 to France.
Modric is still under contract with the Bernabeu outfit that will expire in June 2020 but reports in Italy claimed he wanted to join national teammates Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic at Inter Milan.
