The former chairman of PDP in Kwara state, Iyiola Oyedepo, has described members of the PDP Executive Committee who welcomed the Senate president Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to the party as ‘inconsequential opportunists.
Channel TV reports that Oyedepo made this on Friday, August 3, in Ilorin, after tendering his resignation letter at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
The former chairman noted that he decided to leave the PDP because of those he described him as a pollutant adding that he can’t work with them.
According to him, “These people have polluted our system, they have been in government for about 16 years and there are no dividends of democracy in Kwara state.
“When you talk about education, health, infrastructure and development it is not there, now, change has come to Kwara state.”
He accused the leadership of the state of using the state’s resources for personal use rather than developing the state.
Oyedepo disclosed that he has moved to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) with the majority of his followers because he has no problem with the Buhari-led administration.
According to him, “I have no problem with the present administration, you can never hear me criticise the president or his administration.”
He called on residents in the state to vote for the ruling party come 2019 general elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the chairman of the PDP in Kwara state, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo said he cannot work with the APC defectors led by Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The Nation reports that he said other members of the party executive committee in Kwara cannot work with the defectors too.
Two senators - Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara north) and Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara south) as well as six members of the House of Representatives from the state were among federal legislators that defected from the APC on Tuesday, July 24.
Oyedepo, who spoke on the development during a radio programme in Ilorin, said the national leadership of the PDP has set up a committee to interface between his group and the defectors.
