Arsenal place £22.3m price tag on German defender Shkordan Mustafi

- Arsenal want £22.3m for struggling German defender Shkodran Mustafi

- The 25-year-old has struggled under the tutelage of Wenger and Emery

- Mustafi's had a poor performance that cost him a place at the World Cup

Arsenal have said they will only sell Shkodran Mustafi this summer if a team pays £22.3m for the Germany international.

The £35m signing from Valencia two years ago has largely been frustrated under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery and has decided he is surplus to requirements.

Turkish side Galatasaray made an initial loan move but the Gunners want a permanent deal for the central defender.

The arrival of Sokratis Papastaphopoulos from Dortmund will develop the likes of Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Konstantinos Mavropanos means Mustafi is not needed at the Emirates.

The 25-year-old's disastrous season lead him to be omitted from the German team to the World Cup at the back end of last season.

A number of clubs have been credited with interest in signing the player since, with Arsenal believed to be open to selling if they can strike the right deal.
