Manchester United’s Chris Smalling reportedly set to join Wolves this summer

Bookmakers Paddy Power are tipping Manchester United defender Chris Smalling to join Wolves despite missing out of Gareth Southgate’s squad to the summer World Cup in Russia.

According to Birmingham Mail, the odds are in favour of the newly promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers to be the next club of Chris Smalling having gone from 33-1 to evens.

The 28-year-old Smalling has made almost 300 appearances for the Manchester United since he was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2011 from Fulham.

The Red Devils are reportedly chasing Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, and if the deal sees that light of the day then Smalling will he handed the permission to look for new suitors elsewhere.

Already, Wolves have aboosted their back-line with the arrival of the Willy Boly on permanent deal as well as plotting a loan deal for Jonny after offloading Barry Douglas and loaning out Roderick Miranda.

At the last count, Wolves equally have the likes of Boly, Conor Coady, Ryan Bennett, Danny Batth, Kortney Hause and Dominic Iorfa on their books.

Interestingly, the newly promoted side are also linked with Smalling’s Red Devils teammate Marcos Rojo.

The Argentina international is also reportedly wanted by Everton.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Manchester United are plotting a £35m deal for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina.

According to a Mirror report, the Barcelona defender is now No 1 target for the Premier League giants after failing to seal a deal for Leicester defender Harry Maguire.

Two other Premier League sides Everton and Wolves are reportedly eager to sign Mina, but the Colombian is likely to favour a switch to Manchester.
