Manchester United Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho alongside Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola will heading into a new campaign without the support of their familiar and trusted assistants.

Departure date: May 2018

The new Premier League campaign is yet to kick off but Manchester United are already missing the services Faria at Old Trafford. The ex-fitness coach is usually the bridge regularly between Mourinho and the rest of the team.

When the Portuguese manager's allows his temper to get the better of him, it was Faria who usually calm down frayed nerves. When the ex-Chelsea boss goes tough publicly on a squad member, look out for Faria to checkmate any tension between them, you always see him reminding the manager of his responsibilities as well as comforting the player in question.

However, Faria opted to end their long relationship in May. Initially, it was thought the assistant coach was hunting for a management job himself, but failing to secure an alternative employment, it is reported that a fallout between the two coaches led to Faria’s sudden exit.

After Faria’s departure, Mourinho’s body language suggests he will not look for a successor, saying: “I will organise my coaching staff in a way where the assistant manager figure doesn't exist.”

On the other hand, even with Michael Carrick on the bench, Mourinho still has that bridge between himself and the squad. The ex-Red Devils midfielder, retired in the summer, headed straight into his coaching duties and is well respected among the squad members.

However, a crack seems to be appearing after Mourinho blasted transfer chief Ed Woodward for not splashing enough cash as well as his rocky relationship with French forward Anthony Martial.

Ordinarily, Faria would have taken charge but having bowed out; there is no one with the big heart to keep Mourinho in check.

Zeljko Buvac (Jurgen Klopp)

Years of service: 17 (Joined 2001)

Clubs with Klopp: Mainz 2001–2008; Borussia Dortmund 2008–2015; Liverpool 2015–2018.

Departure: April 2018 – he’s still officially employed by Liverpool

Buvac could also be likened as a personal assistant to Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp during their 17-year relationship.

The Bosnian is an important adviser to Klopp as he takes charge of tactical planning alongside training ground.

“Zeljko is a master of all forms of training, I learn from him every day,” recalled Klopp while speaking about his assistant, who gave up his job as Neukirchen head coach to be Klopp assistant at Mainz in 2001.

“I've made a lot of good decisions in my career, but the best one was appointing Buvac as coach – he's the best coach I've ever known.”

Interestingly, it was exactly that reputation he gathered over the years saw him being linked to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, and was reportedly the main reason he left Anfield.

However, the timing of his exit coming just before the Reds Champions League semi-final tie against Roma was linked to an ill feeling.

In addition, it was suggested that the in the final weeks of their union Buvac distanced himself from the rest of the gang to the point that he sat in the corner of the dressing room on his own while Klopp conducted a half-time team talk against Stoke City. He left Anfield citing 'personal reasons'.

At the moment, Buvac’s name is still listed as a coach on Liverpool's website, but it is looking more that Buvac will not return to Melwood.

Klopp's has opted to replace him with Pepijn Lijnders, who was had a short and unsuccessful managerial job at Dutch side NEC.

Although Klopp has lost someone special in Buvac, he clearly rates the Dutchman highly but he is willing to move on without a man he once labelled 'The Brain'.

Departure: June 2018

The sudden exit of Torrent is quite different to both Faria and Buvac in the sense that their 11-year relationship ended without rancor.

Torrent was keen to a return to full-time management and was given the chance to replace Patrick Vieira at New York City FC, which is owned by the City Football Group.

Though I have enjoyed a wonderful 11 years working alongside my colleague and close friend Pep Guardiola - it has always been my ambition to manage a team again and I really couldn't have hoped for a better opportunity than at this football club,” Torrent said.

The 55-year-old has worked with Guardiola since the early days while he was an assistant at Barcelona B before helping his claim wave of trophies (24 in total) to Barcelona's side, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

However, while his departure maybe seen as a loss for Guardiola, it opens the frontiers for Mikel Arteta to emerge as the new No 2.

Although no other name has been put forward, Arteta is believed to have grown into a tall figure in two seasons at the Premier League side.

The former Arsenal ace was largely expected to become Arsenal boss before Unai Emery's late entry and now Manchester City could move against losing him by naming his Man City’s assistant coach going forward.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Manchester United are reportedly planning to replace their manager Jose Mourinho with three-time Champions League winning coach Zinedine Zidane if he leaves.

The Portuguese tactician has been recently signed a two year contract and the Red Devils chiefs are not sure of him seeing out the two years left on his contract.
