As the end to the transfer window in England gets closer Chelsea may risk losing their number one Thibaut Courtois for free next summer.

Chelsea have Willy Caballero and newly-signed Robert Green this summer and will look to have a formidable replacement for the Real Madrid-bound Courtois.

The Spanish giants have been favoured to land the Belgium international as Los Blancos will only have to pay €35m for one of the best hands in the game.

Courtois is expected to return to training this week ahead of the Community Shield curtain-raiser against Manchester City on Sunday and Maurizio Sarri is eager to hold talks to sound out the 26-year-old about his intentions.

But the transfer window in Spain will close August 31, which gives Real the chance to land Courtois even after the season has started, but Chelsea will remain firm in their stance if they are unable to replace him within the next week.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reportedly told the Blues' chiefs that he will not sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge and will leave on a free transfer next summer.

The Blues have been trying to keep their number one goalie this summer, and with this latest development, they will have to sell him in the next nine days or lose him for free when his contract ends next season.
