Mateo Kovacic snubs £54m Manchester United switch due to Mourinho's style

- Real Madrid's Mateo Kovacic has reportedly declined a £54m move to Premier League giants Manchester United

- Kovacic is eager for a new challenge outside Spain but does not like Mourinho’s style of play

- Chelsea reportedly are plotting an offer for the Los Blancos star

Real Madrid player Mateo Kovacic has reportedly rejected a £54million switch to Manchester United as he is not comfortable with Jose Mourinho's style of play which he does not consider good enough.

According to a UK Mirror report, the Red Devils Portuguese boss has not splashed the cash the usual way in the ongoing summer transfer but was hoping to seal a late deal for the 24-year-old.

Kovacic is not a regular at the Los Blancos, but is looking forward for a switch away from the Santiago Bernabeu for a new challenge in other leagues in Europe.

Interestingly, Manchester United were eager to see Kovacic join the Old Trafford dwellers for a lesser fee he would otherwise command.

However, Spanish publication Marca revealed that Kovacic does not fancy Manchester United style and is therefore not interested in playing under Mourinho.

On the other hand, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the Los Blancos star.

At the last count, Maurizio Sarri has only sealed two deals since he was appointed Chelsea boss. The ex-Napoli manger brought in Jorginho from his former team as well as signing ack-up goalkeeper Robert Green, but time is running out for the west London side.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Barcelona sports director Eric Abidal has travelled to Los Angeles to have a secret meeting with Paul Pogba, Tuttosport reports.

The Italian news media outlet said that the Manchester United midfielder who is currently on vacation in the United States held a meeting in a private villa to discuss a possible move to the Camp Nou.

Pogba has not been having the best of times with United's manager Jose Mourinho and the rumours have been spreading that the Frenchman has had enough of the Portuguese coach.
