Some protesters have stormed the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to demand the expulsion of the Senate president, Bukola Sararki, from the party, Premium Times.
The protesters commended the efforts and decision of the national working committee of the APC to dissolve the Kwara executive led by Saraki's right hand man, Balogun Fulani.
Speaking to journalists during the protest on Tuesday, July 31, the leader of the protesting group, Tayo Awodiji, said Saraki should be expelled for anti-party activities.
Awodiji said: "The dissolution of the Balogun APC executives in Kwara State by Adams Oshiomhole and the National Working Committee is highly commendable as it is long awaited."
He also said the dissolution of the Kwara executive would pave way for the APC ahead of the 2019 election.
Awodiji while calling for a fresh membership of APC members in Kwara state congratulated the leader of the caretaker committee, Omolaja Bolarinwa. He also assured Bolarinwa of the group's cooperation and support in building the party.
Awodiji said: "We congratulate Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa on his appointment as the chairman caretaker committee while wishing him a successful tenure in office.
“We urge him to brace up for the herculean task of unifying all the elements and interests in the party, which will serve as a springboard for the achievement of greater success," he added.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the APC had on Sunday, July 29, disband the Kwara state chapter's executive committee led by Balogun Fulani.
The minister of information, Lai Mohammed, said the resolution to disband the committee followed a stakeholders' meeting of the party in Oro, Kwara state.

According to Mohammed, the stakeholders agreed that a fresh congress which will include all APC members in Kwara be conducted.
