According to Tribal Football, the French League side have made the forward their major target as the team's sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta enjoys the support of Garcia and the board to land the player.

Though, he didn't get on the scores sheet in the one-month long global football showpiece, his presence on the pitch was instrumental to their success.

When asked about a deal for the World Cup winner, Garcia declared: "If Giroud interests us really? No name or clues will be given on the transfer window for now.

"Andoni is with us, I do not know if he's hanging around (he looks around), but ask him the question!"

Giroud is expected to hit Chelsea camp latest next week as they prepare to battle Premier League champions Manchester City for the Community Shield.

The Blues won FA Cup last term after edging Manchester United by a lone goal which was scored by Eden Hazard from the spot kick.

Legit.ng previously reported that Olivier Giroud was sighted in Spain enjoying his summer holiday after helping France the 2018 FIFA World Cup staged in Russia.

The striker didn't score a single goal in the tournament but his presence on the pitch in all the games he played gave Les Blues attack some depth.

With Antoinne Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe joining him upfront to make up a deadly force any defence dreaded in Russia.
