Appeal Court dismisses motion to remove Aidoko‎ from Senate, adjourns till September

- The controversy surrounding the senatorial tussle in Kogi East senatorial district is still on

- The Appeal Court has dismissed a motion to remove Senator Atai Aidoko Ali from the red chamber

- The court also adjourned the matter till Tuesday, September 18 for fresh hearing

The Court of Appeal, Abuja division, ‎has dismissed an application by Air Marshall Isaac Alfa (rtd) to remove the senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Atai Aidoko Ali from office and swear him in.

Legit.ng gathered that the presiding judge has also adjourned the matter till Tuesday, September 18 for fresh hearing

Both of the Peoples Democratic Party (P‎DP), Aidoko and Alfa had filed separate appeals at the court to determine the recent judgement of a Federal High Court.

The Appeal Court judges ordered all parties to consolidate the matter as well as commence all the processes before the new date .

The appeal court judges went on recess but were forced ‎to set up a vacation panel by Alfa to commence the hearing of the case.

The judges of the court warned that all parties must tidy up their work and dismissed the motion for accelerated hearing brought by lawyers of Alfa.

The fight for the Senate seat was ordered by the Supreme Court for fresh retrial and it is expected to route through the apex court for final judgment.

Meanwhile, a prominent member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Abdul Sadiq Esq, has urged the Senate and the people of Kogi East to reject the judgment of ‎the lower court on the senatorial seat currently occupied by Aidoko.

Barrister Sadiq also cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the consequences of issuing a certificate of return without carefully studying the implication of the judgment.
