Real Madrid compete with Chelsea for the signing of Daniele Rugani

- Real Madrid have joined the chase for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani

- The Italy international has been highly favoured to join Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea

- Reports say Ronaldo's transfer could fast track the signing of the center-back

Real Madrid have entered the race for the signing of Juventus star Daniele Rugani with the European champions in talks over a proposed move, Express UK quoting OK Diario.

The 23-year-old defender has been on Chelsea's wishlist for a couple of months as Maurizio Sarri has only made two signings since his appointment as manager.

The Blues have been doing all they can to prise the Italy international away from Serie A club with reports last week claiming Rugani had agreed a five-year deal worth £77,000 a week.

However, while is the deal is still waiting to be completed, Chelsea are now facing strong competition from Madrid.

According to Spanish news media outlet OK Diario, Madrid have been negotiating with Juve's chiefs for weeks.

Ok Diario claim the defender’s name was been discussed during negotiations for Cristiano Ronaldo who left Madrid for the Allianz Stadium earlier this month.

Following the smooth transition of Ronaldo to Italy, the Serie A champions could be willing to do business again over Rugani as Chelsea could be left out.

Madrid will be grateful to Ronaldo if they can end up signing Rugani under Chelsea’s nose with the Portuguese’s transfer opening up a strong bond between both clubs.

However, it remains unclear if Rugani will actually leave Juve after his agent, Davide Torchia, stated the player is happy in his homeland.

“The interest from Chelsea is there for Rugani,” Torchia told Radio Sportiva.

“Beyond the figures though there’s a technical question, neither the player nor Juventus have ever said they want a sale.

“The operation with Chelsea is separate from [Gonzalo] Higuain, each deal has a different cost and different dynamics.

“The two players can bring in different profits. Rugani is calm and happy, he’s at the pre-season training camp and he’s thinking about Juventus.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Premier League side Chelsea are ready to increase their previous £36m bid to £45m for Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani.

According to a UK Sun reports citing Goal.com sources, revealed the West London side are eager to sign the 23-year-old Italy international this summer.
