The Ekiti state House of Assembly has kicked against alleged ‘strange deployment of heavily armed policemen’ round its building.
Kola Oluwawole, the speaker of the House, briefing newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Thursday, July 26, stated that the massively armed security personnel were deployed on Wednesday, July 25, This Day reports.
He accused members of the House who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the governorship election as being responsible for the act.
Oluwawole said the defected lawmakers allegedly forged a letter supposedly written by the clerk, Tola Esan, and addressed to Bello Ahmed, the state police commissioner, calling for deployment for no reason.
He drew the attention of the public to the antics of the opposition and their alleged resolve to trigger crisis in the Assembly.

Consequently, members of the Assembly called for the indefinite closure of the House until security is restored.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Sunday Akinniyi, a former chief whip of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, on Tuesday, June 26, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The assembly had, on June 13, suspended Akinniyi, representing Ikere Constituency 2, for alleged terrorism and sleeping through in the last three years.
The lawmakers also barred Akinniyi from the vicinity of the Assembly complex and mandated the Clerk to lodge a formal complaint of threat to lives of members against him to security agencies.
