- Inter Milan are looking to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi
- The Argentine has a £626m release-clause in his contract with Barca
- Messi won the league and cup double for the Catalans last season
Argentine star Lionel Messi has been linked with a move to Inter Milan even though the Serie A side would have to cough up to £626m to sign him, The Sun quoting Tuttosport.
Juventus pulled off a major coup when they managed to capture Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid earlier this month.
The arrival of the £99m forward has brought attention to the Italian league ahead of the new season.
And this has led to envious glances being cast towards Turin from their league rivals.
According to Tuttosport, Inter would somehow be keen to take Messi from Barcelona to rival Ronaldo in Serie A.
Messi has committed his long-term future to Barcelona last season when he penned a new contract with the club until the end of the 2020-21 season with a huge buy-out clause.
The 31-year-old then went on to help the Catalan giants to the La Liga title last season and remains the main man at the Nou Camp.
Inter sponsors, Pirelli, are looking to come up with a package to seal the biggest transfer in football history.
The CEO of the company, Marco Tronchetti Provera, dropped the bombshell during an interview when he said the club's owners Suning are looking to make a major signing.
He said: "I hope that Suning, once Financial Fair Play will allow it, can make a huge signing.
"Messi? How can you say no to Messi?"
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported Lionel Messi is currently enjoying his summer holidays with his family following an unimpressive Russia 2018 World Cup outing in Russia.
The 31-year-old powered his side to a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the last Group D encounter to reach the Round of 16 of the tournament.
