I’ll become House majority leader in few days - Reps minority leader

- Chukwudi Onyema, the acting minority leader of the House of Representatives, has declared that he would soon become the majority leader

- Some APC members of the House were said to be preparing to join PDP this week

- He said he would no longer be referred to as the minority leader as soon as the anticipated members of APC defect to PDP

The acting minority leader of the House of Representatives, Chukwudi Onyema, has declared that he would become the House leader in a few days.

Premium Times reports that Onyema, popularly known as Chuchu, said this at the ongoing emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party secretariat in Abuja.

Legit.ng gathered that he said the PDP caucus in the House, whom he said had remained steadfast, will no longer be referred to as the minority. The All Progressive Congress currently has the majority in terms of numerical strength.

“Hopefully by our next meeting, we’ll have a change of nomenclature,” he said. The PDP is expecting some members of the splinter group of the APC, known as the R-APC.

The group, which is comprised of aggrieved members of the ruling party have formed a coalition with the PDP and 38 other political parties to defeat the ruling APC.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Senate president, Bukola Saraki and speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and other aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) might defect from the party on Thursday, July 26.
