I didn't get any query over pro-Buhari rally - Ikot Ekpene chairman

- Contrary to reports that he was queried by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Unyime Etim, said such did not happen

- He described the report as "a cooked lie from the pit of hell"

- Etim was said to have been queried by Emmanuel for allowing a rally organised by the All Progressives Congress to hold in the state on Saturday, July 21

The chairman of Ikot Ekpene local government area of Akwa Ibom state, Unyime Etim, has denied being queried by the governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel, for the political rally organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, July 21.

Premium Times reports that there were reports on social media that the governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, was angry with Etim for allowing the rally to hold.

Legit.ng gathers that APC organised the rally in support of President Muhammadu Buhari's second term ambition.

The rally was also for the reception of the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere, who may likely run against the incumbent governor in the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state

According to reports, since the appointment of Ekere in 2016, the relationship between the Akwa Ibom government and the NDDC has remained sour.

The statement read: “Claims that the governor summoned the chairman or any other person(s) to explain why the event was held is nothing but a mere fiction to add credit to the event and further deceive the good people of Akwa Ibom state."
