Otedola fire: Victims, families who lost vehicles to get compensation - Nigerian Insurance Association

- The Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA), through its traffic management, has announced its resolve to compensate those who were affected by the fire accident that took place on the Otedola bridge on Thursday, June 28

- The announcement which was published on Twitter on Monday, July 23, request a meeting with the victim at the state secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja

- The meeting, according to the announcement, will be held at the said venue on Tuesday, July 24

The Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA), through the general manager of the traffic radio, has announced its decision to compensate victims who lost their vehicles to the Otedola bridge fire on Thursday, June 28.

The NIA has directed the traffic authority in Lagos to request for access to the damaged cars so that it can ascertain the extent of the damage done by the inferno.

The investigation on the damage is to be conducted by the ministry of transportation after which a meeting between the victims and the insurance firm scheduled for Tuesday, July 24, will take place.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that not less than nine persons were burnt beyond recognition with 54 vehicles torched in a fuel tanker explosion on Thursday, June 28, at Otedola Bridge, near the old toll gate, Alausa, Lagos.

The spokesman, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Kehinde Adebayo, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stressing that four persons sustained various degrees of injury.

Legit.ng gathered that Adebayo said the accident was caused by a fuel tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol heading towards Berger along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
