A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Ardo, has said the party remains the only political party in Nigeria capable of removing a sitting government.

Ardo told Vanguard in an interview published on Monday, July 23, that the party intends to bring about regime change by defining itself and sponsoring credible candidate to the electorates.

He said the PDP can remove the ruling party from power by taking advantage of the failure of the APC to fulfill its campaign promises to Nigerians.

“With these things and the inability of the government of the day to change the situation dramatically as expected and as promised by the APC propaganda machine, their inability to match words with deeds have made a lot of Nigerians all over the country to doubt the ability of Buhari’s regime to make any change, there is no change,” Ardo said.

"In the North, more than 90 per cent of Nigerians have changed their position with regards to President Buhari’s leadership and APC governance.

"Given that this administration did not make those changes that we were expecting, it has shown to Nigerians that at least now you have something to compare PDP with."

Meanwhile, Chris Ngige will be suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he fails to inaugurate the board members of the federal agencies and parastatals under his ministry, the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has threatened.

The parastatals and agencies in question are the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, National Directorate of Employment, National Productivity Centre, and Michael Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies.

Oshiomhole issued the threat when speaking with journalists at the presidential villa, in Abuja, the Punch reports. He said he would not tolerate ministers who abuse their office and disrespect the president by refusing to carry out his orders.
