The Noble Women Movement for Buhari and Osinbajo (NWM4BO) says no amount of blackmail against the Muhammadu Buhari administration would change the minds of Nigerians who are genuinely yearning for trusted leaders.
The women’s group made this assertion in a statement issued by its director of publicity, Dr Rachaek Ahmadu in Abuja on Friday, July 20, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the women made the statement against the backdrop of the recently conducted Ekiti gubernatorial election in which Dr Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious.
They said the Ekiti people had come out en-masse to vote for Fayemi, as they could not be insulted by ‘stomach infrastructure’.
The statement read in part: “We commend the outcome of the Ekiti governorship race. The result released by INEC has validated our earlier position that no amount of blackmail that will change the minds of the people because Nigerians are wiser and we saw this play out in the election.
“Before the election, the outgoing governor made several attempts to demobilize movement by paying off all taxi drivers, bus drivers and okada riders to make sure that there was no means of local transportation for Ekiti people to attend the APC mega rally.”
The group described the Ekiti election as one of the freest governorship polls in recent times; and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for the exercise.
It also stated its resolve to continue working assiduously to deliver for the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket in the 2019 presidential elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Nigerian women under the aegis of North West Movement for Buhari in 2019, in a meeting, endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for second term.
The women, including wives of governors and their deputies, said the president's achievement in the last three years was the reason they were endorsing him for another term.
