Abdullahi Yari resigns as Osun APC primary commissioner

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has stepped down from his position as commissioner of the Osun state All Progressives Congress primary election.

TVC reports that he stepped down from his position on Friday, July 20. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege took over as acting chairman.

The reason for the decision has not been made public yet but there is speculation that the governor had to return to state to attend to security issues.

Legit.ng had reported that two governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dropped their bid to contest for the party’s ticket in the coming governorship election in Osun state.

The affected aspirants include the secretary to the Osun state government (SSG), Moshood Adeoti, as well as the chairman of local government service commission, Peter Babalola, Channels TV reports.

Both candidates were reported to have announced their withdrawal shortly before the APC primary election started on Friday, July 20.

Moshood Adeoti said his decision to withdraw from the party’s primaries was because the process was already designed to favour an anointed aspirant.

He however, told his supporters that he is still going to contest and win the governorship election.
