Buratai changes name of 21 Brigade in Borno to Special Forces Brigade

- The Nigerian Army boss, General Tukur Buratai, has changed the name of the 21 Brigade in Borno state

- The new name, according to Buratai, is now Special Forces Brigade

- He commended the brigade for its operations in curbing the activities Boko Haram insurgency, adding that he will ensure that logistic support will be given to the unit to aid its work

General Tukur Buratai, the chief of Army staff, has renamed the 21 Brigade, located in Bama, Borno state, as Special Forces Brigade, Vanguard reports.

Buratai, according to a statement by the army spokesman, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, designated the Brigade as Special Forces Brigade, during his operational visit to the brigade on Thursday, July 19.

The chief of Army staff praised the Brigade for their exploits in countless clearance and offensive operations against Boko Haram insurgents.

Buratai also assured the Brigade of adequate logistics support to help their activities. The Army boos, who was received on arrival by Colonel AG Nora, the acting commander 21 Brigade. He later visited the Gun Boat Company of Operation Lafiya Dole, at Alau Dam.

Buratai was accompanied on the visit by the theatre commander Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Rogers Nicholas, principal staff officers from Army headquarters and the acting general officer commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Bulama Biu.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai was intercepted by armed bandits/armed robbers at midnight of Saturday, May 5, while on a routine tour of operational areas by the Nigerian Army to curtail the activities of evil men across the country.

Four of the armed robbers were arrested with 3 Dane guns, machetes and charms. The bandits who mounted roadblock where the COAS’ convoy ran into were reportedly on their daily operation of attacking innocent Nigerians.
