The recent merging of some political groups spearheaded by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been described by the chairman of the Grassroots Mobilizers for Buhari (GMB), Ambassador Fatima M. Goni as a ploy to oppose President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC-led administration.
Ambassador Fatima M. Goni, the chairman of the Grassroots Mobilizers for Buhari (GMB), has decried what she termed as dubious script by a strata of the political class using names of coalition of parties as a tool for mischief and campaign of distraction against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 17, in Abuja, she said that the move was a conspiracy in opposition to the president by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who collaborate with some registered political parties that purportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some opposition groups, Daily Trust reports.
Goni said: "The coalition is an amalgamation of strange bedfellows that doesn’t have any agenda for the development of the country and progress of Nigerians.
“In fact, the PDP is afflicted with the virus of minority complex as their members are decamping out of the party on a daily basis.”
She stated that the goal of the coalition should be to pacify Nigerians for the PDP’s maladministration that caused hunger and pain for the country throughout its sixteen years in power.
She stated: “Nigerians can still vividly recall the wanton looting of public treasury, political assassinations and insecurity that became the order of the day during the years of misrule perpetuated by the PDP that is now organizing cash and carry coalition of parties motivated by deceptive memorandum of understanding.”
Goni further urged members of R-APC to be on the alert in order not to be puppets in the hands of top persons of the PDP, adding that R-APC members should remember that President Muhammadu Buhari is a democrat, and is willing to work with anyone so long as nation-building is concerned.
She appealed to party members to withdraw the court case they instituted against the elected Adams Oshiomole-led APC in order to promote political stability in Nigeria.
