PDP's defeat will end stomach infrastructure in Ekiti - Sagay

- Professor Itse Sagay said the victory of Kayode Fayemi at the Ekiti poll will bring an end to stomach infrastructure in the state

- Sagay said Olusola Eleka's loss is the Ekiti people's way of rejecting Ayo Fayose

- He urged Fayose and PDP members to accept defeat and not go to court

The chairman, Presidential Advisory Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has advised Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to not go to court over the result of July 14 governorship election.

Sagay also said PDP's loss in the governorship election is Ekiti people's way of rejecting Fayose by not voting for his deputy and governorship aspirant, Olusola Eleka.

He added that because of Kayode Fayemi's victory at the poll, Ekiti would no longer be referred to as the stomach infrastructure state, Punch reports.

He said: “I think Ekiti people have restored their sense of self-respect and dignity because to have elected a Fayose was a self-inflicted insult and he insulted them by saying he won election on the grounds of promising them stomach infrastructure.

“It was a very big insult because what he was saying is that the Ekiti people live solely for the sake of eating. That is why stomach infrastructure was a very big insult. And he insulted them for four years; he ran the state down.

“He didn’t pay salaries. Altogether, he was a disaster. So, this election was a way of voting Fayose out because I don’t think his deputy was the real candidate. In voting out Fayose, Ekiti people have restored their sense of self-respect and we will no longer call them stomach infrastructure state but as a serious people who look at their progress instead of food."

Sagay urged Fayose and PDP not to challenge the poll result in court. He accused Fayose of rigging 2014 election that brought him to power and crying foul after Eleka lost to Fayemi.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Sagay said Fayose has committed grievous sins in the last four years and will surely account for his actions someday.

Sagay said Fayose through his language, attitude and actions has been sinning against God especially by wishing death upon President Muhammadu Buhari during his illness.
