- The members are defecting in droves to the newly formed Advanced Democratic Congress (ADC)
- More chieftains of the ruling party are expected to join the new political movement soon
Hundreds of members of the ruling APC in Ondo state have defected to the newly formed ADC backed by former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Daily Sun, the mass defection was due to the the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some other political parties, including the R-APC in Abuja recently.
The former APC members, led by Adeola Ademulegun announced their defection at a rally held in Ondo, headquarters of Ondo West local government area of the state.
Legit.ng gathered that Ondo East and West local government areas of the state were the most affected, as thousands of members joined Ademulegun and Honourable Lomi Isiah to join the ADC.
Many more chieftains of the ruling party are expected to join the new political movement in the state in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the APC national youth leader, Sadiq S. Abubakar, on Monday, July 9, dismissed the newly formed Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and its sponsors, describing them as 'brief case political parties.'

He said the sponsors of the coalition are serial election losers, who specialise in jumping from one party to another, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari won't be perturbed by their existence.
Abubakar went on to say the postulation that his party will suffer defeat in the 2019 elections only exists in the figment of imagination of members of the coalition.
