Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to join Italian champions Juventus in a staggering £88m deal after club's President Andrea Agnelli traveled to Greece to convince him to join the Turin side.

After the exit of Portugal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they were sent out in the round of 16 stages, Cristiano Ronaldo took his family to Greece for holiday to relax before the new season will kick off.

Ronaldo who joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2008 for a then world record £80 million is the La Liga club's all-time top scorer with 451 goals in all competitions.

He won two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies during his stay at the Bernabeu stadium with Real Madrid.

"Real Madrid CF communicates that in response to the will and request expressed by the player Cristiano Ronaldo, he has agreed to transfer to Juventus FC.

"Today, Real Madrid want to express its gratitude to a player who has proved to be the best in the world and who has marked one of the brightest times in the history of our club and world football,'' Real Madrid said in a statement according to UK Mirror.

Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus has now ended the hopes of Manchester United signing the player this summer.

The Red Devils have also been reported to be monitoring the 33-year-old player with the aim of bringing him back to Old Trafford where he left in 2008.

Earlier, had reported how Italian champions Juventus were reportedly close to agree a world record deal with Spanish club Real Madrid for the signing of Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since Portugal crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the former Manchester United star has been linked with a move to Italy before the deal was completed on Tuesday, July 10.
