Jose Mourinho has sent a text message to support to his Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as the Spaniard could be axed from Fernando Hiero's starting XI.

The Spanish number one has come under criticism after looking less than convincing in between the sticks.

According to the Metro, Mourinho has sent messages of support to his star man following De Gea's uncertainties in the first XI.

Spain drew their first game with Portugal before edging Iran and drawing with Morocco. They topped their group with goals scored and will play Russia on Sunday in the last-16.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Spain's opponent, Russia lost 3-0 to Uruguay in their last Group match.

A Luis Suarez and a Denis Cheryshev's own goal put Oscar Tabarez 2-0 up as Edison Cavani wrapped it up with the third.
