Chelsea agree £4.4m compensation with Napoli to cancel Maurizio Sarri’s contract

Premier League side, Chelsea have agreed to splash out about £4.4 million to cancel Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli contract and name the Italian as the new boss at Stamford Bridge, suggest reports.

The 59-year-old football tactician currently has 24 months remaining on his Napoli contract, but is linked with a move to take over from compatriot, Antonio Conte at FA Cup winners’ in few days’ time.

The Little Donkeys’ have already employed former Blues’ boss Carlo Ancelotti to take charge of affairs at Stadio San Paolo but, according to UK Sun report, citing Italian newspaper, Il Mattino, the Stamford Bridge outfit will pay Napoli £4.4m to cancel out Sarri’s contract.

At the close of last Serie A campaign, Sarri’s Napoli battled Juventus for the Italian topflight title, thus the Premier League campaigners are seeking Sarri as the ideal manager to take over from Conte after a not-too impressive second campaign at West London.

During 2017/18 Premier League campaign, Chelsea failed to secure Uefa Champions League spot despite claiming the FA Cup in May, no thanks to off-field issues between Conte and club eggheads, instigated club owner, Roman Abramovich to commence move for a new manager.

The report further revealed that Sarri will pen a three-year contract valued at £5m per season at the end of discussion.

The Italian is also expected to draft in former assistant at Empoli, Giovanni Martusciello, Blues' legend Gianfranco Zola alongside five other backroom staff from Napoli.

Interestingly, Sarri has concluded plans to stay at the Chelsea’s Cobham training facility on arrival.

Although, Conte still retains his position at Stamford Bridge, but they are clouds of uncertainty surrounding transfer targets ahead of the new campaign.

On the other hand, the incoming manager has another list of summer targets that includes Napoli and Belgium forward, Dries Mertens as well as Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that coach Maurizio Sarri is planning to live at Chelsea's training ground when he becomes the Blues' new gaffer.

The 59-year-old former Napoli coach is reportedly being expected in London in the next 24 hours and will sign a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio wants to base himself at Cobham as he begins the task of remolding the Blues' squad before the first-team players return on July 9 according to UK Mirror.
