Gernot Rohr who is the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has backed his players to go for a win against Argentina in their last Group D game at the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Super Eagles on Friday evening, June 22, defeated Iceland in their second Group D game to record their first win in the tournament in which Ahmed Musa scored the two goals for Nigeria.

Nigeria's victory against Iceland on Friday, June 22, means Gernot Rohr and his boys must avoid a defeat against Argentina for them to have the chance of reaching the last 16 at Russia 2018.

Gernot Rohr while speaking at the post match press conference believes his players have the chance to win against Argentina.

“What I like in my young team is humility, solidarity and fighting spirit.

“I thought before this World Cup we were here to learn. I think this team will be ready in 2022 and this World Cup is coming early, but we have a good chance to win against Argentina,'' Gernot Rohr explained.

Meanwhile, the last time Nigeria and Argentina met was in a friendly match in which the Super Eagles came from two goals down to beat the South Americans 4-2.

Earlier, had reported how Leicester City star Ahmed Musa scored twice to hand the Super Eagles their first victory in the 2018 FIFA World Cup encounter at the Volgograd Arena.

The 25-year-old grabbed his first goal after receiving a timely and superb pass from Victor Moses and carefully controlled the ball and confidently powered it into the back of the net.

Musa completed his brace in the game after mesmerizing the Iceland defense including the goalkeeper before making it 2-0 for Gernot Rohr's side.
