Alleged billionaire kidnapper Evans gets new lawyer as trial continues

- Noel Brown announces he is representing Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias, Evans, in court

- Brown takes over as counsel to Evans and Ogechi Uchechukwu after the withdrawal of Olukoya Ogungbeje

- Some of the other suspects are planning to also change their lawyers

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, the alleged billionaire kidnapper, popularly known as Evans, has reportedly hired a new lawyer following the withdrawal of his original counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje.

The Punch reports that Noel Brown, announced appearance for Evans and one of his co-defendants, Ogechi Uchechukwu, when the trial of the suspects continued before Justice Hakeem Oshodi at the Lagos state high court in Ikeja on Friday, June 22.

According to the report, Justice Oshodi confirmed from Evans and Uchechukwu to be sure he was their new lawyer.

The report said the fifth and sixth defendants, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba, were represented by AA Uzoukwu and Emmanuel Ochai, respectively.

The second and fourth defendants, Uche Amadi and Okechukwu Nwachukwu, did not have a lawyer to represent them.

Amadi and Nwachukwu told the court that they were planning to change their lawyers and that they hoped to get one before the next adjourned date. earlier reported that Olukoya Ogungbeje withdrew his representation from all criminal charges against his client.

He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that we have fought a good fight this far despite repeated and sustained threats to my life and my defence lawyers.

“I dare say we have no regrets whatsoever having conducted the criminal charges involving our client this far.”
