- According to reports, he wrote about the deplorable condition of the school's hostel facilities

- The news which has since gone viral has sparked media outrage

Kunle Adebajo, a final year student at a much respected university in Oyo state, has been suspended from the school for two semesters. This action carried out by the school came after he published an article about the shabby conditions of the school's hostel facilities.

According to several reports, he had written the article in 2016, titled The irony of fashionable rooftops and awful interiors which was published by The Guardian. The article spoke about the poor conditions of the school hostel's facilities.

However, trouble started to brew for the law student and school journalist as two days after the article was published, he was summoned by the school's disciplinary committee over the opinion piece.

In the months to come, Adebajo defended himself before the committee but it appears all fell on deaf ears as he was eventually rusticated for two semesters at the end of May. The news became viral on social media later in June.

Confirming the news, he wrote on Facebook, "It is true I was rusticated by the University of Ibadan for two semester. It is also true that it was for a 2016 article."

The news sparked outrage from both students of the premier varsity and outsiders as the accused the school of being anti-free speech and violating the human rights of Kunle Adebajo.

Ovation Magazine boss, Dele Momodu hass also taken to social media to speak on the matter. He wrote, "Here's a public appeal from me to the UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN authorities to kindly temper justice with mercy and rescind the decision to suspend this young writer KUNLE ADEBAJO for two semesters... Thanks and God bless your own children... Pls help me retweet till it gets to UI..."

Whether or not Kunle Adebajo is going to file a law suit against the school is yet to be determined but will keep you posted as more details unravel.
