Serbia started off their campaign in Group E at the Russia 2018 World Cup with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica.
Roma defender Aleksandre Kolarov scored the only goal of the match courtesy of a superb free kick in the 56th minute.
The match was evenly contested in the first half as both sides threw all they had at each other.
But Kolarov's stunning free kick made the difference and handed them the advantage going into their next game.

In other group fixtures, Brazil will later in the day trade tackles with European side, Switzerland as they begin their quest for a sixth World Cup title.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Super Eagles lost to Croatia in a Group D match played at the Kaliningrad Stadium.
