According to Dailymail (UK), Iraqi-born Hadid shot down her critics clarifying that Al-Wakrah's design was inspired by a dhow boat and not female private parts.
The disgruntled architect further insisted that if the designs had been conjured by a male architect rather than herself, they would not have faced the same criticism.
Speaking to Time, Hadid branded the observation ridiculous and questioned whether everything with a hole in it's design should be deemed to be a vagina.
"It's really embarrassing they come up with stuff like this. What are they saying? Everything with a hole in it is a vagina? That's ridiculous," Hadid said.
Hadid's intention was for the stadium's design to take after the traditional ancient Qatari dhow boat used by local fishermen and pearl divers, but unfortunately, such was not the case.
Football fans world over took to twitter to spot the striking resemblance of Qatar's blueprint for it's state-of-the-art Al-Wakrah stadium to women's genitalia that went viral.
However, the design is predominantly meant to help control climate around the stadium and ease the effect of the soaring temperatures in Qatar.
