The security personnel officially attached to the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, part of whom were withdrawn by the State Security Service (SSS) were on Tuesday, June 5, partially returned.
The DSS reportedly withdrew close to two-thirds of personal security guards attached to Saraki and the remaining three presiding officers at the National Assembly on Saturday, June 2, Premium Times reports.
According to an unnamed source close to Saraki, about five of the security operatives were returned to him.
Details of the development were still sketchy as at the time the report came in. So far, it is not clear whether the personnel withdrawn from Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun have been partially or fully restored.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Saraki had begun preparations to honour police invitation over the allegation that suspects arrested for the Offa robbery attack in Kwara state indicted him.
Saraki in a tweet via his official Twitter handle @bukolasaraki on Monday, June 4, said he sent his ADC (security official) to collect his letter of invitation from the police so as to enable him defend himself of the alleged involvement in the Offa robbery.
