Tottenham forward, Harry Kane is reportedly battling late fitness nine days before the commencement of the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.
The Three Lion’s top striker will be reassessed by the team’s medics in the coming days after his ankle was heavily strapped 48 hours after battling Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Wembley.
However, the 24-year-old forward who remains a top choice of England’s manager Gareth Southgate will be watched closely on Thursday when the Three Lions tackle Costa Rica in a pre-World Cup friendly.
According to a UK Sun report, the game against Costa Rica will further show how well the Tottenham marksman has responded to treatment. Also, it will provide the English manager a final opportunity to assess his squad member before hitting Russia for football’s greatest showpiece.
Interestingly, it is still uncertain if Kane’s fitness level will have any negative impact on England ahead of their opener against Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on June 18.
The Tottenham forward was in scoring form for the Three Lions during England’s first of two pre-World Cup games in a 2-1 win over Nigeria last weekend.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has given reasons why the team had a poor first half against the Three Lions at the Wembley Stadium.
Nigeria went two-goals down in the first 45 minutes courtesy of a Gary Cahill's header and a bullet of a shot from Harry Kane.
Just before the restart, Gernot Rohr made four changes and the sleeping West African giants rose to the occasion.
