- Dani Ceballos sends a heart-felt message to Liverpool's Loris Karius
- The Real Madrid midfielder was not listed in Zidane's squad for the final
- Los Blancos emerged Champions League winner of the 13th time
Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has sent Loris Karius a classy message following Liverpool Champions League nightmare.
Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat in the final in Kiev on Saturday was as result of Karius' poor goalkeeping for two of Real Madrid’s goals in the second half.
The German goalkeeper gifted Karim Benzema an easy tap in for the first goal before palming a weak shot from Gareth Bale into the net.
The 24-year-old was in tears after the final whistle and was consoled by a number of Real Madrid players.
Karius apologised to fans on social media for his blunders but the Spain U-20 captain Ceballos who was left out of Zinedine Zidane’s 18-man squad has urged him to show his character by bouncing back.
Ceballos wrote on his twitter handle: “Messing up is allowed, getting back up is what's needed. Good luck, pal! Football always grants second chances. Let's go!”
Jurgeb Klopp is expected to look for a new shot-stopper in the summer transfer window to replace Karius in goal.
Atletico Madrid ace Jan Oblak and Roma star Alisson are among top targets for the Merseyside club.
And former Liverpool star Danny Murphy believes the German will not be at Anfield next season.
“I actually feel sorry for him. I really do,” Murphy told talkSPORT. “Nobody goes into a game wanting to make mistakes.
“Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll play in a Liverpool shirt again. It’s impossible for him.
“I think [with] the magnitude of the mistakes and the enormity of the game, the supporters will struggle with him being in goal for them and the continual ribbing he will get week in, week out, wherever he goes – that’s going to be huge pressure for him.
“I just can’t see him playing [for Liverpool] again.
“That’s not being dramatic, that’s a reality of the situation.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Real Madrid won their 13th Champions League title after defeating Liverpool by 3-1 in Kiev.
Karim Benzema scored the opener to put Real ahead courtesy of a hauler from Loris Karius while Sadio Mane equalized moments later.
Substitute Gareth Bale pulled off a spectacular over-head kick to restore Madrid's lead and the Welshman finished off with a shot from 25-yards which was fumbled by Karius, to give Real the victory.
