Kingsley Kuku accuses police of persecution over search of his residence

- Kingsley Kuku faulted the search of his residence by the police reportedly without a warrant

- Kuku accused the police of persecuting him, scaring his aged mother of 84years and invading his privacy

- He also alleged that the search was an attempt to frame him by the police with cooked up evidence

A former special adviser to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta affairs Kingsley Kuku has alleged that the search of his residence Ondo state was persecution of his person for no reason.

Tribune reports that Kuku said this in an emailed statement, vowing that ”no amount of blackmail or intimidation can cow me, as my hands are very clean. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper.”

He added: “I do not have any doubt in my mind that, this act of intimidation is part of the present administration’s plan to persecute me for no reason.

”It is in pursuit of their wishful thinking to find just anything with which to frame me up. But again, even in today’s operation, they failed to achieve that.”

Kuku queried the policemen’s actions, saying: “One wonders if, this team did any background or facts check before proceeding on a journey to Arogbo, a peaceful Community of mainly fishermen and women.

“What could the Policemen be looking for? If they wanted to search my house, should they not have come with a Search Warrant? Since they did not meet me at home, even if they wanted to search, should they have done so unaccompanied?

“It is worrisome if our country has degenerated to a level where innocent citizens are being harassed, intimidated and framed up on daily basis, while criminals and perpetrators of other heinous activities walk about freely.” reported on Thursday, May 24 that some armed policemen stormed Kuku's hometown to search his country home in Arogbo community in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state.

The residence was thoroughly searched by the armed policemen just as some of the officers shot into the air while the operation lasted.

The actions of the policemen who were numbering over 20, caused panic among the residents of the town, as many of them ran away from the community during the shooting.
