Governor Abubakar hunts for replacement after deputy resigned

- After the resignation of his deputy, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state is said to be making moves for a replacement

- A few names have surfaced from which the governor is likely to choose

- A credible source said that Audu Sule Katagum and Baba Suleman have been tipped for the position

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state is said to be making moves to appoint a new deputy after Nuhu Gidado resigned from office.

A credible source said that chief of staff of the government house, Audu Sule Katagum, and a former minority leader of Bauchi state House of Assembly, Honourable Baba Suleman Katagum, are currently being tipped for the position, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng notes that Baba Suleman Katagum is currently the head of Bauchi ‎State Geographic Information, an agency in the Ministry of Lands.

Apart from the two being speculated to be considered, it was believed that Governor Abubakar might also consider other personalities.

Recall that the deputy governor of Bauchi state, Nuhu Gidado, tendered his resignation. The deputy governor resigned on Wednesday, May 23.

Gidado, who sent his letter to Governor Abubakar, cited waning desire in the job as his reason for resigning.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state accepted the resignation of his deputy, Engineer Nuhu Gidado.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng, the special adviser, media and strategy to the governor, Ali Ali, said the governor wished Gidado well in his future endeavours. He described his tenure and service to the state as meritorious and therefore, deserving commendation.
