Conte set to take a break from football if sacked at Chelsea

Embattled Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could consider taking a break from football if the Blues should sack him.

The Italian manager who led the Blues to FA Cup success against Manchester United made it clear he not will leave the club.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Roman Abramovich will have to pay around £9m if he sacks Conte who still has a year left on his contract.

The Stamford Bridge outfit hope to avoid a costly pay out by Conte taking up another role this summer, but the options are running out.

The 48-year-old was rumoured to replace new Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Paris Saint-Germain, but the vacancy has been filled by ex-Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.

Max Allegri was another candidate for a managerial role at the Emirates but has stated he would be staying on at Juventus and Roberto Mancini is the new Italian national team manager.

The situation at Inter Milan is the same after Luciano Spalletti qualified the club into Champions League football next season and Carlo Ancelotti could replace Chelsea target Maurizio Sarri at Napoli.

If the former Juventus boss sits it out until the summer of 2019 then the Blues will pay him for the remaining 12 months of his contract.

Chelsea finished in fifth in the Premier League and will play in the Europa League next season.

The Blues only managed 70 points in 38 matches in their dissmal season in the league and were knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona in the round of 16.

However, Conte did not go empty-handed as the season winded down as his side triumphed over Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Brazilian midfielder Willian will be leaving the club if Conte is not sacked.
